1.1.4 — September 21, 2026

A Self-Host reliability patch. It installs silently, with no "what's new" popup.

Fixed a Self-Host device going quiet after a "Server unreachable" error: it kept waking on its timer but reused a stale Wi-Fi lease, so its requests never left the device until someone pressed the button. After a failed request the device now renews its network state on the next wake, as normal mode already did.
"Server unreachable" now says why: DNS failed, connect failed, connection lost, no response, or the HTTP status your server returned.
Every Self-Host request now includes displayingError, which is true while an error banner covers your image, so your server can answer with a full image instead of a "no change" reply. Servers should ignore fields they do not recognise; see the Self-Host docs.

1.1.3 — September 16, 2026

This update shows the "what's new" popup once after installing.

The new Event calendar widget is out: connect Google, Outlook, or any ICS calendar in the ZerryBit app and your upcoming events show on the device.
Fixed widgets occasionally showing "Unavailable, try again soon" after an automatic refresh. When the device's memory is momentarily too fragmented to hold an incoming widget image, the image is now stored in flash instead of showing an error.

1.1.2 — September 9, 2026

Self-Host mode: the "Wrong image size" error now also shows what the device actually received and what it expected (for example "got 51244 B, want 48000 B"), so server-side problems can be diagnosed straight from the screen. "got -1 B" means the reply had no Content-Length header, which usually points to a proxy applying compression or chunked encoding.

Fixed a memory-handling issue where some widgets could occasionally show an "Unsupported size" error after an automatic refresh. It healed itself on the next wake, but now it shouldn't happen at all.
Preparation for the upcoming HA Builder update: Home Assistant widgets using the new QR pairing now render with correct colors.
The "what's new" popup now appears only after feature updates; small patches like this one install without it.

1.1.0 — August 17, 2026

The first major feature update.

Full screen widgets

Switch between full screen widgets directly: hold the button down and rotate. Previously you had to return to the overview first.

Wi-Fi

New setup method: the device can open a temporary hotspot, and you enter the Wi-Fi details on a page that opens in your phone's or computer's browser. No more typing passwords with the knob unless you want to.
The device now remembers up to 4 Wi-Fi networks and connects to whichever is available. A half-typed password is kept if you back out of the keyboard.
Better network discovery on the first scan (especially EU channels 12 and 13), smarter reconnecting after router hiccups, and error messages that correctly separate "your internet is down" from "our service is down".

Home Assistant

Multiple HA widgets can now run on one device. Every widget in HA Builder gets a unique ID, and the firmware requests exactly the ones set up in the app.
Groundwork for QR-code pairing of HA widgets (the app and HA Builder updates that enable it are coming).
Full compatibility with the current HA Builder: existing HA widgets keep working with no action needed, and the firmware automatically falls back to the classic mode when it talks to an older HA Builder.

Other changes

Battery level is accurate while charging and right after unplugging.
Widget layout changes made in the app now apply reliably on the next button press.
The device warns on screen before the 12-second hardware reset triggers when the button is held down long.
Reworked first-time setup flow for new devices and factory resets.
New "what's new" popup that appears once after a feature update.

The initial public release. The launch firmware included the widget overview and full screen views, cloud-rendered widgets configured from the ZerryBit app, the Home Assistant widget, Self-Host mode, automatic over-the-air updates with rollback protection, and the on-device setup flow.
